Project Description

Spicy Angel Wings

Don’t let the “spicy” scare you away. You can easily control how spicy they are by whether you include the spines and/or seeds of the jalapeños. These chicken wings are finger lickin’ good!

Ingredients

Chicken Wings

  • 3-5 lbs. chicken wings

Sauce

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1/3 cup minced garlic
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, diced and seeded*

Instructions

Chicken Wings

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Place wings on a sheet pan in a single layer. Bake at 400 degrees for 60 minutes, turning once.

Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, heat oil. When hot, add the garlic and brown until golden, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  • Add the sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, paprika and jalapeño. Mix well and bring to a boil. Cook until reduced to 1 1/2 cups, about 20 minutes.
  • Place the wings in a serving dish or bowl. Pour the sauce over the wings.
  • Delicious served over rice.
  • *The seeds and spines of the jalapeño pepper are where the spiciness comes from. If you like more spiciness, keep some of the spines and seeds in the sauce.
